EMule / EDonkey LowID Problem - Sprint DSL
My Sprint DSL Service
I’ve been trying to setup Emule on my computer for the longest time. I could never get rid of the LowID problem which, for those of you who don’t know, causes really slow downloads. I’ve read every single tutorial on the net with no success.
I finally decided to contact Sprint Customer Service, and learned something new: My modem has a built in firewall and proxy. This is just another protection that Sprint provides its’ customers with along with one of the best spam control I’ve ever seen. So as a side note, if you are looking for a good DSL provider, I would highly recommend their services.
Setting up EMule / EDonkey to work with Sprint DSL Modem
As I mentioned, Sprint DSL ‘645 Series’ has a built in proxy and firewall, and having that turned on, Emule could not work properly. So this is the solution I found:
Sprint DSL Router / Modem 645 Series
This router has a web baised interface, but it does not actually say “Port Forwarding” in the listing.
I have this router connected to a wireless router so this post might get lengthly.
First to solve the Sprint router:
1) login to the web baised interface
In IE: http://192.168.1.1 - this is default for this router
Use admin as username and 1234 as password
NOTE: 1234 is default when you origionally setup the router with sprint dsl your email address password was placed in here, so use that to log in.2) Click on Advanced Setup on the left
Click on NAT
In Network Address Translation (NAT) select the box: SUA Only and edit details3) In this screen you will have a menu with start port end port and IP address
Check with EMule / EDonkey to find your ports, but the ip address will be 192.168.1.2
Save changesIf you only have one computer and router you are done.
Good Luck…

Thank you for this information. I just got Sprint DSL for my new computer an(HP PAVILIAN) an in order to get my old Compac Presserio on line I must get and install router. I landed on your web site for which I’m greattul, but somewhat confused. Could you communicate with me and tell me what I should do? Sprint sent me a 645 modem which I installed. Now I need to get my laptop on line. Thanks - Larry

THANK YOU!!
I have been trying to fix my failing TCP Port tests and constant Low ID problem in eMule for about a year now. Trying all sorts of remedies and software optimizers etc…
Your fix worked in about 10 secs and for the first time, I am in the green with a High ID. Thanks again, I guess persistance pays off.
